Honest compression

Lower the quality to make JPG and WebP files smaller. Vimorby shows the original size, the new size and the exact percentage change for every image.

PNG is a lossless format, so a quality setting doesn't apply. Re-saving a PNG that was already optimised can even make it larger. If that happens Vimorby shows the increase rather than hiding it, and converting to WebP is usually the better way to save space.

Shrinking an image's dimensions saves far more than quality alone. Combine compression with the resize option for big savings on large camera photos.

Private by design

Everything happens inside your browser tab. Your image is never uploaded, so it is never stored on a server.

Questions

What quality should I use?

80–85% is a good balance for photos on the web. Below 60% artefacts start to show.

Does compression remove metadata?

Yes. Re-encoding in the browser drops EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location, which also protects your privacy.
